#Studio Racks for Marley
Marley asked my partner, Angus, if he could create some custom studio racks for his sound recording equipment. It’s normal for the cabinetry that holds musical equipment like this to have cut outs on the sides to allow for airflow so the equipment doesn’t overheat. Marley’s vision was for the cut outs to be native Australian plants.
It was clear that these cut outs would need to be done with a CNC machine, which Angus doesn’t have or know how to use so he organised for that part to be done by Carl from PlayDrive CNC.
I already had an artwork with natives I’d done years ago as a potential artwork for a band who didn’t end up using it. I was excited to repurpose it! I turned the illustration into vectors and thickened up the lines.
Angus then glued them all up and they came out a treat. We also got a lot of the flower cut-outs and they’re sprinkled all over the house.
