#Thelma Plum - Meanjin Album Art
I was so lucky to be trusted with designing the cover and singles art for one of @thelmaplum’s EP’s, Meanjin.
Thelma is such a sweet human and there have long been a few degrees of separation between us (different grades at the same school and maybe doing circus together at one point?).
It’s such a gorgeous collection of songs inspired by and named after the wonderful small town that we all know and love (Meanjin!) and places/things that are nostalgic and special to her (girl after my own heart). You can hear her talk about it here on The Project.
Album art & singles art, showing important places important to Thelma:
Album - is her childhood home in Fairfield
When it Rains it Pours - outside The End bar
Baby Blue Bicycle - Illustration of Rosie dog
The Bat Song - Illustration of Stephen’s Needle
The Brown Snake - Illustration of the Brown Snake

One of the singles on the EP, “Backseat Of My Mind” took out the number one most played spot on both triple j and 4ZZZ. It also landed Thelma her first commercial radio plays on Brisbane’s B105, plus Late Nights on both Hit Network and NOVA. She also spoke about the EP with Refinery 29, The Guardian, NME, Music Feeds, and more.
Its success also encouraged Thelma’s return to the live stage, revisiting previous COVID-affected tour dates on her Making It Up To You Tour, before joining Paul Kelly for a special run of performances at the Sydney Opera House for VIVID Live.
