#19 Rene’s House

I got a chance to speak to Alice-Anne’s grandmother, who grew up a few doors down from Torbreck on Dornoch Terrace. She told me about how she felt incredibly sad when the high rise was built because it meant the removal of a huge and beautiful homestead, complete with horses. I thought it was so interesting to hear this perspective on the iconic building, because it’s revered by so many people.

I drew the perspective from the street. This is the view you catch as you go left down Gladstone Road towards BSHS or straight-ish down Gloucester towards St Lawrence’s, or right down Gladstone Road towards St Ita’s.

I also drew the perspective from the inside. With a fence and giant hedges no longer constricting my view, I took many photos and puzzle pieced them together to include as many details from the front of the house in as possible!

#Key Features

I love the ornate door and the table and chairs near the fountain. I also love the hedge and how it hides away the amazing house behind.
